Long Dog in Vienna, Austria – Secession Building

Part 5 of 15

LD is keeping it real in front of the Secession Building in Austria. ChillyMost provided this premium installation, which is how he earned his S Rank in installation.

I didn’t know what the Secession Building was when ChillyMost filed this dispatch but I’ve been reading about it and I’m very happy to be learning about it.

The place I started learning about it was through a conversation with Microsoft Copilot (because Copilot replied faster than ChillyMost, just barely) The quote below is what Copilot told me about the Secession Building when I asked in July 2024:

The Secession Building (German: Secessionsgebäude) is an exhibition hall in Vienna, Austria. It was completed in 1898 by Joseph Maria Olbrich as an architectural manifesto for the Vienna Secession, a group of rebel artists who seceded from the long-established fine art institution. The building features the Beethoven Frieze by Gustav Klimt, which is one of the most widely recognized artworks of the Secession style (a branch of Art Nouveau). The motto of the Secessionist movement, “To every age its art, to every art its freedom,” is inscribed above the entrance. The building also appears on the national side of the €0.50 Austrian coin and as the main motif of the Austrian gold collectors’ coin. Today, the Secession building serves as an artist-run kunsthalle focused on international contemporary art¹². 🎨🏛️

That sounds like a great place and I’m very happy to have Long Dog hanging out there. Having learned about the Secession Building a little bit through the adventures of Long Dog is really gratifying for me. Thanks ChillyMost for the great installation.
