When Duke got a body he had no face parts. Arthur made him from wire and scraps of cloth. Arthur sewed Duke backwards so the seam ended up on Duke’s front. Arthur made Duke naked at first. Nobody knows why because nobody knows what Arthur thinks. Duke likes to think that sometimes he knows what Arthur is thinking but he may or may not, really. Maybe Arthur wasn’t sure Duke would even work out so there was no sense making him any clothes. Maybe Arthur thought that since Duke was made out of old clothes, he basically was clothes so maybe he didn’t need them. Whether Arthur thought Duke didn’t need clothes at first, or whether he just hadn’t got around to making the clothes yet, when Duke came into being he had no clothes. And no face parts. And his back seam was on his front. There’s no real use in trying to guess what Arthur was thinking because nobody knows and Duke has never even seen Arthur anyway. Arthur might not even be real.
