Boiled Egg Process

This egg peeled pretty well. I just felt like making a picture of an egg, though. I think I might make a gallery of egg photos. I have a ton of them.

The way I boil eggs is . . .

I put eleven eggs into this particular pot that I have. I cover them with water up to the rivets in the pot. I put it on high heat until it is fully boiling. Then I set a timer for 12 minutes and I back the heat down to a little lower than medium.

After the timer goes off, I put the eggs into an ice bath for about 40 minutes. Then I put them on a draining rack for a couple of hours and store them in a bowl in the refrigerator.

  1. I suppose your method is one of the best for keeping the yolks yellow rather than that green color.

    1. There’s a lot of variability in the results I get. I’m pretty standardized with what I do but some batches come out way better than others. Some batches it’s definitely possible to get the perfect peel. Others . . . I have to chisel the shell off. Some look great, others have a green ring. I just have to accept the variability.

Before it got too hot for two weeks I was making them on my rocket stove. That was cool. Of course on there it’s going to be variable, but I can handle that. It’s practically like camping.

    2. Skeletor, man!!! It’s been a long time. I haven’t seen you since maybe 1983 when you were antagonizing He-Man. I’m not one to always identify with the villain, I know people who are like that, but I have to say I always thought you were cooler than He-Man. My friend, who I shall call Todd Boulanger to protect his privacy, had a nice action figure of you when we were kids. It was way cooler than the He-Man one he also had. It would be satisfying if the story went that we used to fight over who would be Skeletor but actually we just used to go out into the woods and burn things. We probably burned both Skeletor and He-Man. We burned a lot of things.

  2. Hahaha well thats interesting. I didnt even know he man had been around that long. I like the skeletor from robot chicken. ?

        1. I don’t have a way to watch television, I just stream stuff. I can probably find it on Hulu maybe. I watch Rick and Morty. That’s an Adult Swim show and I watch it on Hulu. Do you ever watch Rick and Morty?
