When Duke got face parts he looked surprised. He wasn’t that surprised, really, he just looks like that. He hadn’t given it much thought but if Duke had thought about it he would have supposed he’d just get one face part. But two makes sense with the big seam running down the front of his face like a fine aquiline nose. When you have two face parts it makes sense to have two mouths. One on each face part. Duke can use one mouth for biting things and one mouth for latching onto things and sucking. Duke liked to think of his right mouth as a scolex, because he likes that word, but later his face parts change so he also likes to remain flexible and open to different possibilities. It makes sense to hold Duke’s face parts on with pins because Arthur had some pins and it helps make the face parts easy to change. These particular face parts proved too shiny though and were discarded for ones that didn’t have as much glare.
Notice the edges of Duke’s original face parts. How would you describe their appearance?
The edges seem rough like they were torn by hand out of a grocery bag.
The edges look smooth.
The edges are a little jagged, as if they have a small fringe cut into them.
